English Championship Predictions for 2014-2015

English Championship title

Championship PredictionsThe English Championship is the second tier of football in the country. Features the teams fighting it out for a place in the Premiership. The top two at the end of the season earn automatic promotion. The four teams below them enter the end of season play-offs. The winner of this also takes place in the Premiership the following year. The competitive nature of the league makes it one of the most exciting in English football. The NPower Championship predictions for promotion usually includes a number of teams. This is no different for 2014-15.

Derby County has been improving in recent times under the guidance of former England manager, Steve McClaren. They should be competing for the title. Their early season form has shown this to be the case and they are one of the clubs leading. Middlesbrough made some decent summer signings, including the capture of Kike from Real Murcia and they have also enjoyed a bright start to the season that should see them challenging for the top spot.

English Championship challengers

Other teams that are likely to be in the hunt for a top two place at the end of the season include Bournemouth, who just missed out on a play off spot last year, and Ipswich, who have experienced manager Mick McCarthy at the helm. Of the teams relegated to the Championship last season, Norwich seem best equipped to make a challenge for a top two spot. The signing of striker Lewis Grabban could get them the goals to fire them back up.

Fulham also relegated last year. Their big money signing of Ross McCormack was a sign of their ambitions to get back to the top straight away. However, their start to the season has been indifferent and they already sit well off the pace. They should challenge for a play off spot though. A Championship prediction for other teams expected to be in the hunt for English Championship playoffs spots is that this will include Watford, Cardiff City, and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Who will leave the English Championship?

In addition, at the bottom of the Football League Championship table, the odds on Championship predictions is that Blackpool will be bottom at the end of the season. Early season form bears this out and they already fell to the foot of the English Championship table. They will likely only fall further behind the other teams, with relegation the outcome to their season. Three teams in all are also relegated from the English Championship and clubs likely to be fighting to avoid this include Birmingham City, Rotherham United, Millwall, and Huddersfield Town. The other two relegation spots are likely to be filled by two of these four teams.

English Championship: The most interesting league

The chance to claim a lucrative spot in the Premiership makes the Championship an exciting league and the 2014-15 season is shaping up to be another great season. The top of the table will be closely contested, with some great games in prospect for supporters to enjoy.

England Championship – Wigan vs Ipswich 22/09/2014

Wigan last news:

Nothing seems to change especially in away matches where they have many problems in the beginning. Yet another modest appearance in the 0-0 against Huddersfield (at least they took their first point in away match for the season) in a match in which Wigan had insipid ball possession and were ineffective in the few chances created.

Coach Uwe Rosler was furious with the referee Stockbridge, from who he asked three penalties: one for Mc Manaman’s overthrow in the first half, and two in the second one!

In view of the current match, the German coach asked from his players except from winning and a good appearance. “Always the evening games are separate. It is understood that the first thing in our minds is victory. However, in front of the cameras and our fans, we are obliged to do a good appearance too “said Rosler.

Ipswich last news:

The most … silent group of the Championship! With two consecutive home wins they climbed in the first half of the table and got psychology for the continuity.

It was a hard match against Brighton. They had a shoot at the post in the first half while the opponent responded with some good moments. In the 79′ they scored 1-0 with a goal from Parr. In the 88′ they “finished” the match in a counterattack with a nice long shot from Murphy.

In away matches Ipswich remain without a win for five consecutive games (0 wins-2 draws-3 losses), whilst if they win today they will reach 14 points and they’ll be one point far from the top six.

England Championship – Nottingham Forest vs Fulham 17/09/2014

Nottingham Forest last news:

They are alone in the standings, despite the 1-1 in the derby of hatred against Derby County.

The one was afraid of the other in a bad match while the eyes were mostly focused on the grandstand and the impressive atmosphere.

They were preceded in 72′ and got drawn in 80′. They were unable to capitalize on their numerical advantage gained in the last minutes. At home they have two wins and a draw in the first 3 matches, having also conceded just one goal.

Fulham last news:

The classic slogan… «Felix out» was heard continuously and the fans were already late for doing so. When a team starts as one of the favorites for returning back to Premier League and after six games the same team is a laggard, with one draw and five defeats, obviously the problem is huge.

Felix Magath is experienced but only for the Bundesliga. Championship is something completely different and the German coach … seems to be lost in space!

Against Reading FC they started dynamically, but their funny defense breached in 15′. In 18′ they were left with ten players (striker Smith was sent off on his debut and will not be available for the next three games) and then … game over.

England Championship – Blackburn vs Derby 17/09/2014

Blackburn last news:

From the second match onwards, wins and defeats were alternated.

On Saturday, they were back at score in 51′, but reacted immediately by changing the “flow” of the match with two goals in 53′ and 56′. In 82′ they finalized their win.

“I’m very happy about the way we reacted when we were behind in the score. We showed confidence against a great opponent. We have many young players in the team and it is important to build confidence through such results, “said Bowyer.

Derby last news:

They were satisfied with the 1-1 at the derby against Nottingham. In fact, none of the two groups risked to do anything more. Derby FC stayed back in the score in 72′, equalized in 80′ and was found with a player less in 87′.

It was the second successive 1-1 draw, while yet they have not won in their away matches counting 2 draws and one defeat.

England Championship – Wolves vs Norwich 10/08/2014

Wolves news:

They took the risk last year not to get rid of the heavy contracts and they were vindicated, as they achieved a new points record in League 1 (103) and returned triumphantly and directly in the Championship.

Essentially the same team is expected to be seen this year, with very few exceptions. Coach Kenny Jackett did not allow key players to leave, while on the other, there were very few transfers.

Obviously the aim is to ensure a quick stay in the league, though there are many who speak about presence in the first half of the table. As for Jackett, he spoke about a second consecutive anode!

They played really good at their friendly matches, while after the draw to Celta 1-1 , the coach said that he was completely satisfied with the progress of preparation and was optimistic that the team will be fully ready to premiere.

Norwich news:

They were the only one of the three relegated teams which did not made many changes to the roster.

They lost some key players (which is logical), such as Snodgrass and Van Wolfswinkel , but they managed to keep the body of last year’s team and therefore they have one of the strongest rosters of category. At the same time, they acquired one of the hottest strikers in last year’s Championship, Grabban from Bournemouth. The aim is to help the team to score more easily as last year Norwich had the worst attacking line in the Premier League, with just 28 goals.

As for their friendly games, it seemed that the problem was overcome. Neil Adams remained on the bench, who took over last year just before the last games (when the program was very difficult) in order to save the “canaries” from relegation, but he did not succeeded.

Correctly, Norwich is one of the favorites for the anode.
